Meet our quiz champions!

Forget Pointless or Eggheads, last month Rudridge played host to the toughest quiz around, and all for a very good cause.

Our annual fundraising quiz at the Silvermere Golf Club in Cobham, Surrey, has become a much-anticipated event in our social calendar. And with a prize fund of £1,000 up for grabs for the winning group's chosen charity, the stakes are high.

Teams from Rudridge faced competitors from businesses across the South East, consisting of clients, suppliers and friends in a battle to determine the ultimate quiz champions. Put to the test with a series of challenging questions on an array of topics such as sport, history and science, the evening was a close-run contest.

In an Egghead-worthy performance, the night's winners were named as The Pretenders from Esher construction company Landmark Groundworks. The team's chosen charity was Macmillan Cancer Support, an organisation close to their hearts. £1,000 has now been sent to help fund the amazing work Macmillan does on a day-to-day basis to support those affected by cancer and their families.

Commenting on the fundraising quiz, our Sales Director (and fellow quiz challenger), Paul Duke, said:

"A huge well done to The Pretenders. Macmillan Cancer Support is an exceptionally good cause and I hope the donation will make a real difference to the charity. Thank you to all the organisers and competitors who helped make the night such a success – now it's time to start brushing up on our general knowledge in preparation for next year!"

The Pretenders, Kyle Johnson, Kevin Lynch, David McCarthy and Dara Keegan, were delighted to lift the coveted title of Rudridge Quiz Masters and to secure the proceeds from the night for their charity. Over 80 people attended the event, making it the biggest yet.

The quiz night is one of a number of charitable fundraising initiatives that we get involved in throughout the year to support various good causes. Our chosen Charity of the Year for 2018/9 is the Stroke Association. This amazing cause was chosen in memory of our former colleague, Tony Marshall, who sadly passed away in 2016 following a stroke. The Stroke Association works to prevent stroke by raising awareness, as well as offering support to stroke survivors and their families.

With lots more fundraising challenges on the horizon, keep an eye on our news pages for more information on how we're getting on and ways in which you or your organisation can get involved.
